1. Tell us about yourself. Who is DJ Ezzy E, and how did your journey into DJing begin?
DJ Ezzy E:
My name is Emmanuel Gambo, popularly known as the World Famous DJ Ezzy-E, from Samban Gida, Jaba LGA in Kaduna State. I am a passionate DJ and entertainer dedicated to creating unforgettable musical experiences for people from all walks of life. I specialize in reading the crowd, blending different genres of music, and keeping the energy alive at weddings, parties, corporate events, and other special occasions.
My journey into DJing began because of my deep love for music and entertainment. What started as a passion for collecting and playing great music gradually turned into a profession. Over the years, I have continued to develop my skills, learn new techniques, and build my brand through consistency, creativity, and hard work. Every event has been an opportunity to improve and connect with people through music, and that passion continues to drive me today.
2. What inspired you to become a DJ, and who were some of your biggest influences when you started?
DJ Ezzy E:
What inspired me to become a DJ was, first and foremost, my love for music. Music has always been a part of my life, and I believe that passion started at a very young age.
One of the biggest influences in my journey was my late elder brother, Ayuba Gambo. May God continue to bless his soul. He was a musician who performed at different events with his band. As a little boy, I always looked forward to following him to his performances. I would watch him sing, play the guitar, entertain the audience, and I would dance along. Those moments left a lasting impression on me.
At home, he had cassette players, turntables, speakers, amplifiers, and other music equipment. Our home was always filled with music, and that’s where my passion truly began. After he passed away, he left behind some of that equipment. My immediate elder brother, Samuel Gambo, and I started using it to play music. We didn’t want the passion to die.
Over time, people in our village began inviting us to provide music for small events because we already had the equipment and genuinely enjoyed entertaining people. We became what I like to call the “village DJs.” Those experiences gave me confidence and made me realize that DJing was something i truly loved.
As time went on, we invested more of my time, energy, and resources into improving myself. What started as childhood memories, family influence, and a simple love for music gradually grew into a profession, also I give it up to my man MaQuin Da Resident President of Ray power 100.5fm whom I literally stay up all night as a young dj listening to his voice and style on Radio, and to the glory of God he gave me first opportunity to ever work and play on Radio. Today, every time I perform, I remember where I started and the people who inspired me to pursue this journey.

DJ Ezzy E is a professional DJ, entertainer, and event hype specialist based in Abuja, Nigeria. Renowned for his energetic performances, seamless music mixing, and ability to connect with diverse audiences, he has become one of the FCT’s respected DJs, performing at weddings, corporate events, concerts, and high profile occasions across Nigeria.
3. Every successful career has challenges. What were some of the biggest obstacles you faced, and how did you overcome them?
DJ Ezzy E:
Like every career, my journey as a professional DJ came with its own challenges. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was starting with almost nothing.
When I decided to become a professional DJ, I knew I couldn’t rely on the small equipment we used at home or at local village events. Professional events required quality speakers, amplifiers, mixers, and other sophisticated equipment, but I couldn’t afford them at the time.
Whenever I was booked for an event, I had to rent almost everything I needed. In many cases, the money I earned from the event went straight to paying for the rented equipment. Financially, it wasn’t rewarding in the beginning, but I saw it as an investment in my future. My goal wasn’t just to make money—it was to build a reputation and establish my brand.
Coming from a humble background, I knew help wasn’t going to come easily. I had to depend on hard work, patience, and determination. I made a lot of sacrifices because I believed that if I stayed consistent, my efforts would eventually pay off.
One thing I’m particularly proud of is how I gradually bought my own equipment. I couldn’t afford to pay for it all at once, so I would buy them on installment. After every event, I would take part of my earnings to the equipment dealer, make another payment, collect a receipt, and continue until I completed the balance. I repeated that process for speakers, amplifiers, and other essential equipment. It wasn’t easy, but I remained focused on my long-term vision instead of immediate comfort.

Looking back today, I can say that consistency, discipline, and perseverance made the difference. I never allowed the challenges to discourage me. Instead, they motivated me to work harder and keep moving forward. I’m grateful for the journey because those difficult moments shaped me into the DJ, entrepreneur, and person I am today.

4. Your style sets you apart. How would you describe your DJing style, and what makes a DJ Ezzy E performance unique?
DJ Ezzy E:
I would describe my DJing style as energetic, versatile, and audience-focused. I believe that a great DJ is not just someone who plays good music, but someone who understands the mood of the crowd and knows how to create unforgettable moments.
What makes my performances unique is my ability to connect with people. Before and during every event, I pay close attention to the audience—their age group, the type of event, their energy, and the kind of music they respond to. That helps me create the right atmosphere, whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, birthday celebration, or a large party.
I’m also known for my smooth transitions, wide knowledge of different music genres, and my ability to keep the dance floor alive from beginning to end. I don’t just play songs; I take people on a musical journey that keeps them engaged and entertained.
Another thing that sets me apart is my professionalism. I believe every event is unique, so I prepare carefully, arrive ready, and always give my best performance. My goal is not just to entertain people for a few hours, but to create memories they will talk about long after the event is over.
At the end of the day, when people attend an event where DJ Ezzy-E is performing, I want them to leave saying, “That was an amazing experience.” That’s what makes every DJ Ezzy-E performance special.
As I conclude this interview, I would first like to give all the glory to God. Everything I have achieved in my life and career has been by His grace. I have never taken a step without seeking God’s guidance through prayer, and I know I would not be where I am today without His love, mercy, and faithfulness. To God be all the glory.
I also want to express my deepest appreciation to my family—the Gambo family. You have been my biggest supporters from the very beginning. Thank you for believing in me, for your prayers, your encouragement, your sacrifices, your emotional support, and every other way you have stood by me throughout this journey. Your love has given me the strength to keep going, and I will always be grateful. May God richly bless each and every one of you.
To my people in Sambangida, Jaba Local Government Area, and to everyone across Kaduna State, thank you so much for your unwavering love and support. You have always stood by me, celebrated my achievements, and encouraged me to keep pushing forward. I truly appreciate you all, and I pray that God continues to bless you abundantly.
- You’ve performed at different events and venues. Which performance has been the most memorable, and why?
DJ Ezzy E:
I have had the privilege of performing at many events over the years, from weddings and private celebrations to large corporate and public events. Every performance has its own special memories, so it’s difficult to choose just one.
However, one event that has remained unforgettable for me happened when I had just started DJing professionally. I was about 23 or 24 years old and was working as a DJ with an events company. We were given the opportunity to provide entertainment at the Nigerian State House for the President of Nigeria.
At that stage of my career, I never imagined I would find myself in such an environment. Coming from where I started, I never thought I would have the opportunity to perform at the highest level of the country so early in my journey.
What made the experience even more memorable was seeing the guests enjoying the music and watching the President himself dancing while I was behind the turntables. It was a surreal moment for me. Standing there, I realized that music has the power to bring people together, regardless of their position or status.
That experience gave me a great deal of confidence and motivation. It reminded me that hard work, preparation, and dedication can open doors you never imagined possible. Whenever I reflect on my career, that performance stands out because it was a defining moment that made me believe I could achieve even greater things in the future.
Although I have enjoyed many other remarkable performances since then, that experience at the State House will always hold a special place in my heart because it marked an important milestone in my journey as DJ Ezzy-E.

- The entertainment industry is constantly evolving. How do you stay relevant, keep up with music trends, and continue improving your craft?
DJ Ezzy E:
The entertainment industry is always changing, and as a DJ, you have to keep learning and adapting if you want to remain relevant. I believe that growth never stops, no matter how experienced you become.
One of the ways I stay relevant is by constantly listening to new music across different genres. I pay attention to current trends, both locally and internationally, because every audience is different. At the same time, I also understand the value of timeless classics, so I always try to strike the right balance between new hits and songs that people already love.
I also invest time in improving my technical skills. I keep learning about new DJ equipment, software, and performance techniques so that I can deliver the best possible experience at every event. Technology is changing the way DJs perform, and I believe it’s important to embrace those changes rather than resist them.
Another thing that helps me grow is listening to my audience. Every event teaches me something new. I observe how people respond to different songs, transitions, and styles, and I use that feedback to become even better.
Finally, I believe consistency and humility are key. No matter how many events I’ve played, I never assume I know it all. I’m always willing to learn, improve, and challenge myself. That’s what has helped me stay relevant over the years, and it’s the mindset that will continue to guide me as I grow in my career.
- As a DJ based in Abuja, how would you describe the growth of the entertainment scene in Bwari and the FCT? What opportunities and challenges do you see for upcoming talents?
DJ Ezzy E:
The entertainment industry in Bwari Area Council has grown tremendously over the years. When I started, there were only a few platforms and opportunities for young entertainers. Today, we’re seeing more events, more lounges, more social gatherings, and a growing appreciation for DJs, musicians, MCs, and other creative professionals. Social media has also made it easier for talents from Bwari to showcase their work beyond the local community.
I believe Bwari has a lot of talented young people with great potential. The opportunities are there, especially for those who are willing to work hard, stay consistent, and keep improving themselves. There is also more collaboration among entertainers today, which is helping the industry grow.
However, there are still challenges. One of the biggest is limited access to funding and professional equipment. Many talented young people have the skills but don’t have the financial support to invest in quality equipment or promote their brand. Another challenge is the lack of enough platforms and mentorship to help upcoming talents reach the next level.
My advice to upcoming talents is to remain patient, disciplined, and committed to their craft. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you start. Keep learning, build good relationships, stay professional, and always deliver your best whenever an opportunity comes. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistency, dedication, and God’s grace, it’s definitely possible.
I’m optimistic about the future of entertainment in Bwari. I believe the area will continue to produce outstanding talents who will not only make a name for themselves in Abuja but across Nigeria and beyond. I’m proud to be part of that journey, and I hope my story can inspire the next generation to believe in themselves and never give up.
- Beyond entertaining crowds, what impact do you hope to make in your community and in the Nigerian entertainment industry?
DJ Ezzy E:
For me, DJing has always been about more than just entertaining people. Of course, making people happy and creating unforgettable moments through music is a big part of what I do, but I also want my journey to inspire others.
One of the greatest impacts I hope to make is by mentoring and encouraging young people who have a passion for entertainment. I want them to know that where you start does not determine where you will finish. I started with very little, rented equipment for years, and worked my way up through consistency, sacrifice, and hard work. If my story can give someone hope to keep pursuing their dreams, then I know I’ve made a meaningful impact.
I also want to contribute to the growth of the entertainment industry in my community by creating opportunities for upcoming DJs and other creative talents. I believe that when experienced professionals support the next generation, the entire industry becomes stronger.
In the Nigerian entertainment industry, I want to be remembered not only as a talented DJ but also as someone who upheld professionalism, excellence, and integrity. I want my brand to represent quality, reliability, and innovation. Every event I perform at should leave people with a memorable experience and a lasting impression.
Ultimately, my goal is to use music as a tool to bring people together, promote joy, and positively influence lives. I believe entertainment has the power to unite people across different backgrounds, and I’m grateful to be part of an industry that creates happiness and lasting memories. As I continue to grow, I hope my legacy will be one of excellence, service, and inspiring others to believe that with faith, hard work, and determination, anything is possible.
- Are there any exciting projects, collaborations, events, or personal milestones your fans should look forward to in the coming months?
DJ Ezzy E:
Yes, absolutely. There are a number of exciting projects and collaborations I’m currently working on. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet, but I can assure my fans that there are some great things on the way.
One project I’m particularly passionate about is an initiative in my hometown, Sambangida in Jaba Local Government Area. The goal is to create opportunities and encourage young entertainers to develop their talents and believe in their dreams. It’s something very close to my heart, and I’m excited about what it will become.
So, I encourage everyone to stay connected and keep following my journey. The best is yet to come.
- Finally, what advice would you give to young people who dream of becoming successful DJs or pursuing a career in the entertainment industry?
DJ Ezzy E:
My advice to every young person who dreams of becoming a successful DJ or pursuing a career in the entertainment industry is simple: be patient, stay consistent, work hard, and always put your trust in God. I believe nothing truly succeeds without God’s grace.
Success doesn’t happen overnight. There will be challenges, disappointments, and moments when people may not believe in you. But if you remain focused, keep improving your skills, and refuse to give up, your time will come.
I also want to address a common misconception about DJs. For many years, people have had the wrong perception that DJs are irresponsible, thugs, or people who have no direction in life. I strongly disagree with that. DJing is an honest and respectable profession. Like every other career, it requires discipline, creativity, professionalism, and dedication. We are working hard to change that narrative, and I believe the industry is becoming more respected every day.
To every young DJ out there, I want to say this: be proud of who you are. I am proud to call myself a DJ, and I have never regretted choosing this profession. It has taken me to places I never imagined I would go. It has introduced me to amazing people, opened incredible doors, and given me opportunities that have shaped my life.
I’ve had people tell me, “Don’t introduce yourself as a DJ. Say you’re something else.” But I have always refused. If I cannot proudly say, “I am a DJ,” then I shouldn’t be in this profession in the first place. This is who I am, and I wear that title with pride because I know the value of what I do.
Choose a career because it gives you purpose and peace, not because you’re trying to impress other people. If your passion keeps you focused, keeps you out of trouble, and allows you to use the talent God has given you to make a positive impact, then never be ashamed of it.
Finally, remember that your journey is your own. Stay humble, keep learning, respect people, believe in yourself, and trust God every step of the way. With faith, perseverance, and hard work, there is no limit to what you can achieve. I hope my story encourages the next generation to dream big, stay true to themselves, and never give up.

Closing Remarks
Finally, to all my fans across Nigeria and around the world, thank you for every message, every booking, every word of encouragement, every prayer, and every opportunity to do what I love. Your support means more to me than words can express. I do not take it for granted.
I promise to keep giving you my very best, to continue growing, and to represent you with excellence wherever I go. May God bless you all, bless your families, and reward your kindness. Thank you for being part of my journey.
Once again, thank you, and God bless you all.
