The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday intensified its governorship campaign across Orolu and Irepodun Local Government Areas and Osogbo, with the party promising community-driven infrastructure, improved education, employment opportunities and inclusive governance ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
The campaign train, led by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, visited Ifon-Orolu, Erin, Ilobu and Osogbo, where they canvassed support from traditional rulers, community leaders and residents.
Addressing supporters at the palace of the Olufon of Ifon-Orolu, Oba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola, Basiru urged the people of Ifon, Erin and Ilobu to vote massively for the APC, arguing that Osun would benefit more from having a governor whose party controls the Federal Government.
According to him, such political alignment would strengthen cooperation between the two tiers of government and attract greater developmental opportunities for the state.
The APC National Secretary also maintained that the sharp increase in federal allocations to states since President Bola Tinubu assumed office had placed greater responsibility on governors to deliver visible dividends of democracy.
He noted that while about ₦586 billion was shared in April 2023, allocations increased to over ₦2.2 trillion in April 2026, ₦2.3 trillion in May and ₦2.7 trillion in June 2026.
Basiru alleged that despite the increased inflow of funds, many communities in Osun had yet to witness commensurate development, particularly in rural infrastructure.
He said an APC administration would introduce community intervention projects across the state’s 332 political wards, with every project determined through proper needs assessment to ensure each community gets infrastructure that addresses its most pressing needs.

He also identified education as a major priority, expressing concern over what he described as the declining standard of public schools.
Recalling that he attended public schools before earning a doctorate degree in law, Basiru said the sector deserved urgent intervention.
He claimed that the state currently has a shortage of about 28,000 teachers, adding that recruiting thousands of qualified teachers would improve learning while creating employment opportunities for young graduates.
Basiru therefore appealed to voters to elect Oyebamiji, insisting that closer collaboration between an APC-led Osun State and the Federal Government would accelerate development in critical sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education and infrastructure.
Speaking during the campaign, Oyebamiji assured residents that his administration would provide equitable and inclusive governance across all towns and communities without discrimination.
He said his government would pursue balanced development by investing in road construction, education, healthcare, agriculture, the micro-economy and other critical sectors, while creating a more enabling environment for businesses and investments irrespective of political affiliation.
The APC governorship candidate said no sector would be neglected under his administration, stressing that his government would focus on improving the welfare of residents through prudent management of resources and people-oriented programmes.
The campaign train later arrived in Osogbo, where party leaders again appealed to residents to support the APC at the August 15 governorship poll, expressing confidence that the party’s development agenda would earn it victory at the ballot.
