The offer, which circulated online around Saturday, August 8, 2026, was reportedly available for only one day through MTN’s official online shopping platform, shop.mtn.ng.

Subscribers are advised to be extremely cautious of links being shared on WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and other social media platforms claiming to offer the 25GB anniversary data.

MTN’s official online shop is “shop.mtn.ng“. Customers should avoid entering their phone numbers, passwords, bank details, OTPs or other personal information on websites claiming to be affiliated with MTN unless the platform has been verified as an official MTN channel.

MTN’s official website currently lists its legitimate data plans and promotional offers, while its terms and conditions state that changes to campaigns are communicated through official MTN communication channels.

Beware of Fake Links

Scammers often use attractive offers such as “FREE 25GB” to trick unsuspecting users into clicking phishing links, sharing sensitive information or completing fake surveys.

Subscribers who encounter such messages are advised not to click suspicious links or forward them to others.

For MTN services and promotions, customers should rely on official MTN channels, including the myMTN NG app, MTN’s official website and MTN’s official online shop.

BwariTimes urges readers to verify every “free data” offer before providing personal information or clicking any link.
