KUDURU, BWARI, ABUJA — A woman has reportedly been left critically injured after she was allegedly beaten and thrown into a concrete drainage gutter by a young man identified as David Burno in Kuduru, Bwari Area Council, Abuja.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening around the Glass House area, with eyewitnesses alleging that the woman sustained serious injuries to her head, mouth and leg during the assault.

 

According to an eyewitness who spoke to BwariTimes, Burno allegedly beat the woman before throwing her into a gutter, causing her to hit her head against the concrete.

Preliminary information gathered by BwariTimes indicates that the incident may have stemmed from a disagreement involving Burno’s girlfriend, identified as Stephanie, and the injured woman.

 

A source alleged that Burno had previously warned Stephanie to stay away from the woman. He reportedly became angry after allegedly seeing the two women together on Monday, resulting in the confrontation and subsequent assault.

He told BwariTimes that her condition had not improved significantly as of Tuesday. According to him, she continues to experience serious difficulty when eating, with fluids reportedly coming through her mouth.

 

Suspect arrested, reportedly released on bail

 

Burno was reportedly arrested on Monday and taken to the Bwari Area Command following the incident.

 

However, information reaching BwariTimes on Wednesday evening indicates that he was allegedly released on bail the previous night.

 

According to the information received, Stephanie allegedly presented herself as Burno’s sister during the bail process. The victim’s husband, Mr Innocent, was reportedly unaware of the alleged release.
