President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured residents of Osun State that adequate security measures have been put in place ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The President gave the assurance on Thursday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign rally in Osogbo, where he appealed to voters to participate in the election without fear or intimidation.
Represented at the rally by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu said security arrangements had been made across the state to protect voters before, during and after the election.
He urged Osun residents to freely exercise their constitutional right to vote for candidates of their choice, while advising them to make what he described as a wise decision.

Tinubu also expressed his desire for Osun State to align with the Federal Government, saying there was a need to “link Osun State to the centre.”
“Feel very free to cast your votes for the candidate of your choice,” the President said, while assuring residents that nobody would molest them during the voting process.
Akpabio Backs APC Candidate
Speaking at the rally, Senate President Godswill Akpabio said the large turnout at the event demonstrated what he described as the growing strength of the APC in Osun State.

He pointed to the presence of prominent party figures, including former Osun Governor Bisi Akande, former APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore and Senator Francis Fadahunsi, as evidence of the party’s support ahead of the poll.
Akpabio also claimed that some opposition figures and Accord Party leaders in the state had thrown their support behind the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
He urged Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, to prioritise infrastructure development if elected, particularly the improvement of roads and other critical infrastructure.
According to Akpabio, Osun State deserves better infrastructure and the incoming administration should begin delivering what he described as the dividends of democracy from its first day in office.
Osun Election Holds Saturday
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and other candidates in the race.
The election is attracting significant political attention, with the APC seeking to regain control of the state after losing it in the previous governorship election.
President Tinubu had previously described the APC’s effort to reclaim Osun as a major political objective, urging party members to remain united behind Oyebamiji.
As voters prepare to head to the polls, the President’s latest assurance is expected to ease concerns over security and encourage residents to participate peacefully in the election.
