KUNU GEDA: A TASTE OF NORTHERN TRADITION 🥜🥣
Kunu Geda is one traditional delicacy commonly enjoyed in Northern Nigeria, including among the Gbagyi people. It is a refreshing and nutritious drink that has been part of local food culture for generations.
This delicious drink is typically prepared from rice, groundnuts (peanuts), ginger, cloves and a little sugar or sweetener, depending on preference. The rice and groundnuts are soaked, washed and blended together with the spices. The mixture is then sieved to extract the smooth liquid, after which it is sweetened and chilled before serving.

Kunu Geda can be enjoyed on its own or paired with other local favourites such as akara, beans porridge and other traditional meals. Some people also add milk to make it creamier and richer.
Beyond its refreshing taste, the combination of rice and groundnuts provides carbohydrates, protein and other nutrients, making it a satisfying part of a traditional meal.
